ADS-B In/Out For Military Aircraft
Description
SESAR Project 9.24 – ADS-B In/Out for Military Aircraft - defines and validates solutions for the use of Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast (ADS-B) by military aircraft that are not equipped with standard ADS-B avionics. This includes the assessment of interoperability opportunities offered by the re-utilisation of the Mode S component in different types of military Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) transponders.
In September 2014, Alenia Aermacchi and Selex ES carried out flight trials using a military C-27J aircraft, in cooperation with EUROCONTROL, to validate the proposed ADS-B solutions and functionalities.
